Barefoot

Barefoot

Bright spring afternoon

wading barefoot in the creek,

scooping up tadpoles.

Warm summer evening

running barefoot through the grass,

fireflies in a jar.

Blue-sky autumn day,

playing barefoot in leaf piles,

watching geese fly south.

Cold winter morning,

barefoot in new-fallen snow…

screaming and laughing!

  1. I am happy the poem brought back memories, Chief. I did all of those things, and more, many times as a child. Although I enjoyed walking barefoot in the snow, I admit I only did that once! (: Thank you for your kind comment. Cheryl

  2. Ivor, it’s unsurprising to me that you were a “barefoot boy.” I guess I would have expected that of you. Wasn’t it great having freedom as a child? Many children now live such regimented lives. I still go barefoot most of the time. Be safe and happy! Cheryl

    1. Ah ..I found it Cheryl…. yes ..I was very much an adventurous boy, who loved the outdoor style of country living….. a surfer/swimmer… a boy scout/hiker… a rower…. and other sports….. but also I like reading…. art, yes I was an artist,….. and I love gardening……

    1. Thank you for reading my poems, Anisha. It sounds like you enjoyed your childhood!

Thank you for your kind comments! There is still time for you to take off your shoes and enjoy walking in the grass or on the sandy beach or in puddles left after the rain… 🙂 (I still do.)

Hope all is well and you are finding ways to enjoy life! Cheryl

      1. I walk barefoot on beaches and even grass, but feel uncomfortable after few minutes. I’m quite allergic to sand since childhood. Thank you for the concern and the wishes, Mam. 🙂🤗
