No Time for Fears

I Choose to assess

risks and act judiciously.

I choose never to live in fear,

to live joyously, sleep soundly,

and focus on my goals. I have

no time for fears.

“No Time for Fears,” though originally posted for Halloween,

is a useful philosophy for everyday life.

Courage is needed in our scary times.

It is one of the poems appearing in Earthly Days.

  1. I did a double take when I read the “He who hesitates is lost” line…that was one of Dad’s common refrains and I always thought it was an ‘original’ quote!
Finding the balance between fear and caution is key – caution sharpens our senses while fear fogs them up.

    1. Thank you for your thoughtful response, Laura. My father also used to say that. I think the quote is traditional, although I found a couple of places that thought it originated with Cato. One said it was possibly from ancient Egypt.

I like how you expressed the balance between fear and caution. ❤ Have a great day!

  2. I think of a quote that I had for a long time on my bulletin board above my desk:
“When you get up in the morning, give thanks for the morning light, for your life and the strength you possess. Give thanks for your food and the joy , to be alive. If you don’t see a reason to give thanks, the fault is yours.”
