A Day on Daylight Savings Time
Crisis of the day
resolved by evening phone call.
Movie with popcorn.
Midnight Scrabble game.
Drowsy, drifting off to sleep,
soothed by pleasant dreams.
Awakening late.
Soulmate snoring beside me,
ticking of the clock.
Cozy under quilt.
Slowly, consciousness returns…
haiku on my mind.
Bright, cheery sunshine.
Birds sing morning melodies,
fly in for breakfast.

Time changes are never and the adjustment time is slow – but we make it. On the other hand, your words were a calm, joyful look at the time change.

Thank you for your kind words, Frank. You made my day! πππ
Time changes were always difficult for me. It is easier being retired. Only on rare occasions do I set an alarm clock. I stay up when I feel like it and get up whenever I wake up.
Are you still at the beach, or are you enjoying springtime in Ohio? Wherever you are, I wish you a blissful day! π£π₯

Back to springtime in Ohio … which is also the craziness of March. It’s roared a little – and also been like a lamb – so time will tell what the rest of the month brings.
On a related note, we were in Central time for two months … then returned home to Eastern Time (adjustment) … then one week later Daylight Savings Time. The combination was quite a shock!

An eloquently thoughtful “Daylight Saving” poem, Cheryl … oh, we are still on Daylight Saving until 6th April …

Ivor, interesting that Australia also has daylight savings time, and that our times overlap. I always found the transitions difficult, but now that I am retired, I ignore time change whenever I can!π Thank you for your lovely comment!
All the best! β€οΈ Hug Frankie for me! He is a delightful dog! πππΆ

I am not sure what the fuss is all about. The hours are the same either way!
I never changed my bedside clock last fall, so I was still on the right time when the change came. :>)

Thanks for all the good vibes here from drowsy drifting to cozy quilts to cheery sunshine! I wish I could sleep with the soulmate snoring beside me. Seems I’m only able to do that when completely exhausted or on a full dose of Benadryl.

Haha, JoAnna. If the snoring gets loud enough, I leave! π I am happy that you enjoyed the poem. Thank you so much for your kind comment! π

Same here with leaving the loud snoring. Ear plugs aren’t enough, but the room across the hall does.

Cheryl, what a beautiful poem! πΌ It glows with so much warmth and comfort. I agree with you, the little everyday moments, like a friendly phone call in the evening or a game of Scrabble together, make life so special. Such a sweet verse, Cheryl. We don’t observe DST here in Arizona. I appreciate that, but it makes things a little more challenging with friends & family on the East Coast. Have a beautiful Sunday!βοΈ

I would prefer not to have time changes, and yes, it is inconvenient when you are on a different time than friends and family. Glad you enjoyed the poem. Thank you so much, Lisa! β€οΈ

da-AL, either daylight savings time or standard time year-round would be fine with me. The transitions between the two can be difficult.
I used to hate getting up at 5 or 5:30 and going to work in the dark. I think parents are concerned about students walking to school or sitting at bus stops before daylight..
On the other hand, long summer evenings are delightful! Let’s enjoy! ππ π
