Tides of Change

Tides of Change

Waves wash up on shore,

tides in eternal rhythm as before…

rising, falling evermore.

Across the blue sky…

I watch a magnificent eagle fly,

wayward teardrop in my eye.

Flag waves in the breeze…

iconic symbol of our liberties.

So, why then, does my blood freeze?

Lost ideals, long past.

Waves of autocracy advancing fast,

but tides will change…nothing lasts!

Tides of change demand…

democracy returning to our land.

Once more, united we’ll stand!

Sadly, Frank, I have to agree with you. I do believe there are some signs of hope:

The Federal judiciary is showing some independence in fulfilling its designated role of supporting the Constitution.

Congressional midterms are coming up.The margins are very narrow.

The administration’s policies are negatively impacting popular programs, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans hospitals, and may cost the administration some support.

Tariffs and threats of tariffs that destabilize the stock market and lead to inflation will be unpopular. Voter turnout may increase.

We all need to do whatever is in our power to restore democracy. Many people seem to be ready to fight back against threats to their rights.

Thank you, Frank, for your honest comment. Hope your weekend is going well! ❤️

Thank you, Joanna. I appreciate your kind words and support. 💕

The midterm elections in Congress are coming up. Fingers crossed!

The Federal judiciary is showing some independence in fulfilling their required role of supporting of the Constitution.

I think when supporters of the administration experience reductions in services such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans hospitals, and other programs, there will be some loss of support for the current administration.

The next concern is whether the next presidential election will take place, and if it does, whether it will be fair.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend! 🌹

To quote an old saying, “From your mouth to God’s ears!”⛈️🌈🌞

Many people are resisting the autocratic madness. I don’t really like writing about political subjects, but we do what we can to support democracy.

I hope you are having a beautiful weekend! 🌻🌺🦋

Thank you, Michele, for your very kind and perceptive comment. 🌼🦋🌷

I am not a flag waver, but I love my country. I love the “American Cowgirl” photo for its enthusiasm and optimism, two things that are hard to sustain in our current political climate. We cannot afford to give up hope! 🌈

      Have a blissful day! 💕
