What are You Afraid of?
Your face is pale…
I’m so afraid!
Did a black cat cross your path?
No, I’m not afraid of black cats.
Your hands are shaking…
I’m terrified!
What is it, a big, hairy spider?
No, I’m not afraid of spiders.
You are breathing hard…
I’m scared to death!
Did you see a spooky bat?
No, I’m sot scared of bats.
Your teeth are chattering…
I’m living in fear!
Why are you so afraid?
I am afraid to say!!!
Happy Halloween!
“Don’t Let the Bastards Grind you Down!“

Happy Halloween
Don’t Be Afraid!
Don’t be afraid to speak out
in defense of what is right!
Don’t be afraid to speak out
against what is wrong!
Don’t be afraid to stand up
for the innocent!
Don’t be afraid to stand up
against the guilty!
Don’t be afraid!
Happy Halloween!
Don’t Let the Hobgoblins
Steal Your Joy!

Thank you, Katey Batavia, for sharing this photo!.

da-AL. any person who is trying to keep up with the news, hard as that is with all the craziness, is probably afraid. I know I am. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. 💕
Glad you enjoyed the camel photo. I was proud of my daughter for being willing to be shown at that moment.

“Don’t be afraid”
Is easier said than done
What about
The shady everglades
And the deadly nightshade
I for one
Like my bats underdone … 🦇🎃

Thank you, Ivor, for the delightful comment! The poem is wonderfully funny. Just don’t have me over for lunch if bats are on the menu! Love the Homo Sapien Lullaby. It is perfect with the poem.
By the way, you are right to fear the Everglades. There are pythons who prey on alligators. A few years ago, a python was killed that had swallowed a doe and her fawn whole!
BOO! 🎃 ☠️👽👻🎃

Right, I won’t be going to the Everglades, Cheryl 😊😍🦇🎃

A fun and meaningful text. It uses Halloween humor to remind us that true fear isn’t found in black cats or ghosts, but in remaining silent in the face of injustice. Brave and positive!

Thank you, Lincol, for your insightful comment! I am happy that you appreciated the playful humor. A saying from my mother often comes to mind,”You might as well laugh as cry!” There is some scary stuff happening all around us! 🎃👻👽🎃

Katey thank you again for sharing your photo! I think fear might have been the first reaction of many of us to suddenly be face to face with a camel! Happy Halloween.

Yessss! (also about a legit fear of being the camel’s spit target – ick) Your poem is a light and airy encouragement to stand up to the scarey realities in which we live. I just stumbled on this event and am considering going it solo…you might be interested. Yep, I’m a bit scared. https://www.falloffreedom.com/

This post give me some idea about Halloween, might be it is the message to kill our fear I honestly don’t know why Halloween is celebrated, thank you for the post

Subashini, thank you so much for your comment. Here is a brief description of Halloween.
Though Halloween had religions origins, the night before All Saints Day, today it is a secular holiday celebrated with costume parties for both children and adults.
Trick-or-treaters, children in fanciful costumes who go from door-to-door asking for candy, are now well-supervised for their own safety, and tricks are things of the past. If you want to welcome trick-or treaters, you leave an outside light on.
Halloween is a time to laugh at our fears. Traditional decorations include jack-o-lanterns (hand-carved pumpkins with candles inside,) ghosts, bats, spiders, and other scary creatures. Ghost stories and spooky movies, often humorous, are popular.
I think the true significance of Halloween is facing our fears. We do not need to live in fear. Courage helps us to overcome the challenges of life.
Maybe you would like to share some holiday traditions you enjoy.
