We humans think that we re the most or only special species, but we couldn’t do the things some species do. Take a hummingbird for example, look at how tiny she is, but have you seen her next? And what about a spider’s web?
This are the thoughts your poem provokes in me. 🙂

Thank you, Offshorewriter! I appreciate your kind comments. This is my first attempt at an Elfchen poem, a style of German poem of 11 words: 1 word, 2 words, 3 words 4 words, 1 word. I am glad you liked it. Kritika, undressedthoughts, suggested I try it. Take care. Cheryl

Woodpeckers have a protective layer in their heads that absorbs shock. Thank you for your kind comment. Glad you like the poem, Kritika. The child or inner child watching the woodpecker has curiosity and empathy, just the qualities reflected in your comments! You are great! I hope all is well with you. Cheryl
