That’s a beautiful poem. Congratulations! I watched part of the video. Carbon farming is an interesting and important concept. I can add that there is a proposal in congress called the Growing Climate Solutions Act which helps farmers with accessing payments and assistance from private/charity carbon markets so they more easily can pursue sustainable farming and carbon farming. It passed the Senate 92-8. Even Ted Cruz voted for it (the government does not lose any money). Unfortunately, it did not pass the house. However, it is coming up second time.

Thank you so much, Thomas, for sharing this information. Let’s hope the bill passes this time around. I am a fairly regular follower of the news and had not heard about this bill. Wars, sports. political stunts, protests, disasters, violence, and other more sensational stories seem to be featured in the news more often than a farming story. Really, we all should care about this issue because it relates to the quality of our food and to climate change, not just farmers!

Congratulations, Cheryl! A lovely poem indeed. Fifty years ago, we were doing organic farming only, but later pesticides and fertilisers were introduced to increase productivity. This can be reversed, but willpower is lacking. The video shared highlights this issue very well.

I am glad you were able to watch the video, KK. ❤ I found it fascinating and watched it twice.
Organic food here may sell for two or three times as much as "conventionally" raised food and often is not very fresh. There are food lists published each year. Foods on the "dirty dozen" list are the most contaminated, and organic food should be bought. Foods on the "clean fifteen" list have less chemical residue, and are generally considered safe.
Both Robert and his younger sister contracted polio as a result of exposure to DDT. The federal government had advised people to spray their cows with DDT, and the milk from their cow was toxic. Both of them today have post-polio syndrome, chemical sensitivities, and neurological problems as a result.
It is a sad thing when our food contains fewer nutrients than it once did and may also contain toxins. I remember the era when the US was self-rightously exporting "modern" farming methods, and I am not very proud. Sometimes, old ways are best. Sometimes "new" is human hubris!

I agree with you, Cheryl, old ways were the best. In the name of scientific advancements, we have done more harms. We can drink RO water, but what about the contamination in the food products? To increase the shelf life of flours etc, preservatives are added in abundance. Oxytocin hormone is injected before milking cows and buffaloes. I really wonder where we are heading to. I’m sorry to know about Robert and his sister, but there are many such victims.
