Daisy’s First Dance
If you’re looking for perfection,
Please don’t look in my direction.
Even if I could achieve it,
no one ever would believe it!
This corner is my protection.
My foolish gaffes and confusion
bloom like daisies in profusion.
There’s not even the faintest chance
he’d ask this wallflower to dance.
I’ve come to that sad conclusion…
Daisy! I thought long in advance…
you might not want to take a chance…
that I could trip over your feet…
Oh, Danny, you’re so very sweet!
How nice that you asked me to dance!

*This poem is fiction, but it accurately reflects some of my own youthful insecurities.

Amazon Review

Earthly Days Update
My Dear Fellow Bloggers,
Earthly Days in paperback and in the Kindle edition is now immediately available on Amazon, shipping in 1-2 days. It is also available on Barnes & Noble.
The paperback, because of the many color photos, had to be priced at $18.99. The Kindle edition, because it has no printing costs, is priced at $2.99. I priced the Kindle edition as low as possible to make it easy for all my fellow bloggers to enjoy the book. I would be ecstatically happy and eternally grateful for any reviews you submit, and I will share them on my blog as I have shared the review above.
Below is the Preface and Acknowledgements page from Earthly Days. I have recognized my WordPress friends for all you mean to me. Every poem in Earthly Days is better because of the experience, knowledge, and inspiration gained from my fellow bloggers. I am deeply grateful. Thank you so much for your support.
Thank you to those who have generously written such outstanding reviews and interviews. Your work is being used as a resource by my publisher in marketing Earthly Days. Your assistance in helping to launch Earthly Days is invaluable, and will be remembered always!
Wishing you Health, Happiness, and Success,
Cheryl Batavia

Thank you for your kind response! ❤ I think you are right. For me it was high school. My parents were way too strict. I felt like a social outcast because I couldn't go to school dances, the movies, and more…
Have a great week! ❤ ❤ ❤

Yes, I can relate to that. I never had friends so once in a while if someone talked tome to me I wanted to be make friends which included going out with them for movies or just an outing etc which I wasn’t allowed.
Have a great week you too! 😊❤️❤️

Thank you, Lawrence, for that intriguing comment. ❤ I don't have any inclination to write a novel. It sounds like a lot of work, so my hat's off to you. I also enjoyed your recent story about the bat, ❤ What is going on with you these days? Hope you are enjoying lovely fall weather. Take care!

Haha! You are right, da-AL. Whenever anything goes wrong, my first question is whether it might be my fault. The majority of the time it has nothing to do with me. 🙂 Thank you for your comment. You gave me a chuckle! ❤ ❤ ❤

Thank you, Mousumi, for your kind comment. ❤ I wholeheartedly agree, though some may hide their insecurities better than others. The boy in the poem isn't very confident either; he's afraid to ask the girl to dance. Somehow though, they eventually do share a dance. Fortunately, over time, people do become more sure of themselves. ❤ ❤ ❤
Hope you are enjoying your week!

Thank you so much, Michele. ❤ Glad you enjoyed the poem.
I deeply regret that I was never allowed to attend school dances. I felt very awkward trying to learn to dance as a young adult. Middle school is a traumatic time of life, so I can only imagine how challenging middle school dances must be! 🙂 It is very telling that we never forget those painful middle school experiences.

You are very welcome. 😊 My treat. As for middle school dances, you did not miss much, but I am sure it was upsetting to middle school you. It is a challenging time in life. Even more so trying to teach that age group! 😨

I don't know why Ingram Spark and Amazon took so long with everything! They had both the soft cover and the Kindle version on September 15th ! Y is my sister, and it took her a couple of weeks to get her book. She wrote her review the day she received it, October 20th. Hopefully, you will get your book soon! Thank you for your patience and for letting me know.
Thinking of you enjoying the adorable babies and the busy life you lead. Hope all is well! ❤

Your fiction took me back to what we used to call junior high school. I don’t think I ever danced with a guy until high school. So glad your book is on kindle. I love real, hard copy books, but I have so many!

I too, love books. Sadly, I had to get rid of most of my beloved hardcopy books because of allergy issues, but I am slowly building a Kindle library! 🙂

I had not thought of books as contributing to allergies. Dang! Sorry you had to get rid of most of your hardcopies. My allergies are acting up right now which I assume is something outside, but with the dog and cat hair mixing with dust, sometimes i wonder. Take care, Cheryl. I hope you have a good week.

Oh Cheryl, I enjoyed reading your wonderful poem! I remember my first dance evening, which took place in a town hall in our small town. On stage a beat band played songs by the Beatles, the Kinks and Eric Burdon. During the first song, a young man with shoulder-length hair came and asked me to dance with him. It was so so wonderful!
