Miami Photos

Cheryl and daughter Katey at the Miami Book Fair five years ago

I found these photos today and thought people might enjoy them.

Downtown Miami, night-time view from our hotel room. The two glowing buildings in the center are the beautiful concert hall and opera house. We attended the groundbreaking ceremonies for these two lovely buildings when we lived in Miami Beach. I later attended some concerts there.

The law firm where my late husband practiced law was located in the Intercontinental building on the left. The sculpture in front of that building is a monument to the Challenger Crew who died in a space mission accident. The tile we bought in support of the monument is still there.

Katey on the white marble slide near Bayside where she used to play as a child. She would slide over and over again until her face was flushed, and we made her take a rest. It looks as if a lot of children have loved it since then!

Katey met a new friend, “Clifford, the Big Red Dog,” at the Miami Book Fair. Katey and her brother had named our dog “Clifford” after him when they were very young.

Cheryl and Katey Batavia at the Miami Book Fair. The Hanging Out with Wild Animals books were on exhibit there.

House in Miami Beach where our family lived for seven years when our children were young.

I confess,

the house is a mess!

I need to clean; I need to shop…

Now’s the time for posting to STOP!

‘Cause soon Ellen and Katey

will visit Robert and me!

A long-awaited visit,

I’ll post it!

It personally touched me, Cheryl. The photos, the flow, the words etc…In such a materialistic world as of today, its hard that people bother about the house they spent sometime in. We in our society, leave a candle ( A clay DIYA to be precise) whenever we leave that house for good, even if a rented one. Although, no surprise, this is expected from a person like you…
Great read, and congrats all over again.

I treasure your kind words, JM. ❤ ❤ ❤ The seven years we lived in that house hold very special memories for me. The house was where our family and friends gathered for Thanksgiving every year. I sold the house after my husband's death and started a challenging new life as a single mother.

The children grew up, and I retired. Twelve years after my husband's death, I met Robert online, and we have been together for ten wonderful years. I am very thankful to have Robert in my life. 🙂

      All the best, JM! ❤

I agree! I am looking forward to Katey and Ellen coming for a few days over Thanksgiving. We are going to the beach, zoo, horseback riding, and a boat ride. We will take turns around the table telling something we are thankful for.

Thank you for your kind words and wishes. ❤ ❤ ❤ Happy Thanksgiving!

I didn’t even think to check you as I thought you were on break… lol! We should know that story by now. You didn’t come up in my feed.
Love all of the nostalgia and family fun and more to come with the kiddos home Cheryl! Have a blast. The last of the Mohican’s arrive at 8:00 am tomorrow. Star just wandered in at 1:30 a.m. keeping me up along with this nagging cold I got from the babies! I do hope I can rally with 22 coming for dinner. Oh my and shopping? Yikes but I’m only doing the turkey-:)
    Have the best time!!! 💕

Thank you for your kind response. The Miami area has grown exponentially since I lived there. It is a beautiful city and there are many things to do, but also lots of traffic, high prices, and crowds at the beach. If you plan to visit, I would do a lot of research online to find activities that interest you.
