Mother (Reblog)

Mother

Mother

is proud of you

for every step you take,

picks you up every time you fall,

shows you how again and again,

and builds your confidence

to walk alone.

She’s proud!

Mother

hears your first word,

always listens to you,

wants for you what you want for yourself,

gives advice, knowing that someday

you will surely recall

what Mother said…

She hears!

Mother

sees potential

when those around you doubt,

has high hopes for you in tough times,

never, ever gives up on you,

even when you give up,

always loves you…

Always!

This is lovely Cheryl. I love the line where you say she β€˜wants for you what you want for yourself,’ because some parents try to impose what they want on their kids. Happy Mother’s Day to you! ❀️

Thank you, Ingrid, for sharing your perspective. ❀ I agree with you that it is a mistake to try to plan your child's life or live your dreams through them.

Happy Mothers Day! πŸ™‚ You seem to be a very devoted and caring mother. I think you are a kind, hard-working, and creative example for your sons.

KK, I was thinking about that very idea of mothers knowing their child in utero when writing this poem. Those are fond memories for me of carrying my oldest daughter and giving birth. My two younger children are adopted, so I decided to write inclusively about all mothers, natural and adoptive. I am very touched that you, as a man, understand what a profound experience it is to carry and give birth to a child. ❀ Thank you so much. Take care!

So nice of you, Cheryl for being inclusive. You have a big heart of mother. Being the youngest child, I was very much attached with my mom, who expired last year on 22nd Feb. I get sentimental when someone talks about mother so passionately. Thanks and take care of your health πŸ™πŸ’

Glad you liked the poem. I have heard it said that as parents, we both emulate our parents and try to avoid their mistakes. No parent gets it all right, but when you become a mother, you can make choices that give your children the best possible childhood. This also applies, I think, to being an auntie or teacher or other similar relationships. I wish you all the best! ❀

My brother, sister, and I have just spent the weekend with our mother, playing boardgames and eating altogether too much food! It has been a joyous time creating more memories. Mothers really do deserve a special place in the heart for all they do, and all the love they share.

Thank you for the reminder. ❀

This is the best, Cheryl πŸ’– so simple, yet so powerful. I especially loved β€œShe hears” because isn’t that the truest thing? A mother’s heart is always tuned in, even when we think no one’s listening.

What a beautiful poem for Mother’s Day, Cheryl. I love the words that echo in my heart both then and now. Watching my children mother is such a gift like you are with your children.

A wonderful ode to a nurturing influence in our lives. My father taught me how to survive in this world, while Mother was always there to lend an ear or affix a bandage to get me back in the “game”. Would not be the person I am today without both of their love.
