Insomnia
Not sleepy…TV movie…
Can’t believe its a series!
One more episode…
Tossing and turning.
Nearly two in the morning…
eggs at the diner.
Sleepless? Walk with me
under the glittering stars,
silver crescent moon.
Wakeful at four AM…
Early morning impulses…
In the mood for love.
Can’t sleep…word-obsessed.
Poem marching through my brain…
Get up and write!

I have been there so many times, Cheryl! I almost always wake up at 4am, and I have to get up for the kids at 6am weekdays, so sometimes I just give up trying to go back to sleep. I hope you manage to catch up when this happens! ❤️

Thank you, Ingrid. Your kind response means a lot to me. ❤ Being retired does allow me to catch up. I spent many years having to get up at 5:00 or 5:30 to go to work. I hope you also have an opportunity to catch up on your sleep. 🙂

I love it, Cheryl. Your poem, that is. I don’t love that you know what insomnia is like because it’s immensely frustrating. It’s a good time to get some writing down when inspiration strikes under the hush of night though! xx

I know what you describe so well in your poem, Cherryl . So well, but i use another system to beat insomnia. I get up in the night and eat some different fruits and back to the bed ! 🙂

Ariela, can you train yourself to wake up a few minutes before the alarm clock goes off? You can lie there and try to remember your dreams. I used to do this when I was teaching and had to get up at 5:00 AM. I hate the sound of the alarm. Do you remember your dreams? Sometimes I do. This may be more likely to happen if you wake up naturally. Maybe you can experiment with these ideas. ❤ All the best!

Just last night I was struggling to get to sleep. There wasn’t so much a creative reason, but I hadn’t managed to eat enough during the day. Sleeplessness is something to be noted and worked on.
Thank you for sharing this Cheryl. ❤️

Thank you, Hamish, for sharing your thoughts! Your comments are always appreciated.I believe it is helpful to take note of what causes sleeplessness and avoid it if we can. For me, caffeine after lunch or eating supper too late are among the things that cause sleeplessness. Wishing you pleasant dreams! 🙂
