Welcome, Orchids!
Orchids…
sunshine yellow,
rosy pink, white, crimson…
old friends reappear and linger.
Welcome!
Orchids
delight my days!
Luminous elegance,
vivid on our shady lanai…
Cherished!
Orchids
encourage me.
When TV news is grim,
I glance out the glass door. Orchids
bring hope!

Allergies limit our gardening and prevent us from having indoor plants, but orchids love being on the shady lanai and bring lots of joy. Orchids require very little care, bloom a couple of times a year, and blooms last for many weeks. In cold climates, they can be grown indoors.

Thank you so much for your encouraging comment. ❤ When I lived in Coconut Creek and didn't have a lanai, I kept orchids on the ledge of the bathtub. When they stopped blooming, I put them under a bush in the yard. When they started to bloom, I brought them in again. Orchids really do thrive on neglect! 🙂

The flowers look stunning. I would love to see the yellow one. Looks distinct from the usuals. Hope the flowers do bring and when kept in front of the house enhances the beauty. Beautiful shady lanai must be looking.

Thank you, Henrietta. It makes me happy that you like the orchids and the poem. Orchids are really not that hard to grow. I just drop them, pot and all, into my pot and water them about every ten days. I add a liquid bloom booster to the water about once a month. ❤ Have a great week!

Isn’t color wonderful? When I look directly at them, with the blossoms at eye level, orchids often remind me of angels. Or aliens.

Wonderful imaginative observation, JoAnna! ❤ I think you can still see with the wonder of a child. Many of us have lost that ability. My mother always had a great imagination! I guess I do when I pay attention. 🙂
